The Lollapalooza music festival founders chose Chicago as its permanent home in the early 2000s for a specific reason.
“Chicago is a place that I think affects and changes the world,” Perry Farrell told Consequence in 2021. “It’s that crossroads thing where people come together [and] want to know and be a part of each other.”
From the poet Carl Sandburg writing, “Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning,” to Frank Sinatra singing, “Chicago is
my kind of town … People who smile at you,” the city has proved to be a place of pride, desirability, and inspiration.
For groups, it’s a playground of team building activities, in-person or virtually. It’s the home of the famed Second City, where groups can take improv classes to help facilitate a collaborative mindset and break down barriers.
Groups can also find plenty of team building events at several of the city’s museums, such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum, or the Museum of Science and Industry, where they can participate in activities like classes or trivia competitions.
