The musical explosion that came out of Manchester in the late 1970s and early 1980s helped put the city on the map in many people’s minds. For a city primarily known outside of England for its football team, Manchester United (and today, Manchester City), the destination became another British place to visit for its cultural and social scenes.
Manchester is easy to get to because it has the largest UK airport outside of London. More than 200 destinations offer non-stop flights into the city. Groups can also easily arrive via rail, with 60 direct trains from London every day.
The city offers several types of venues for meetings and events. Manchester Central’s 23,000 square meters of flexible space, for example, makes it one of the UK’s most versatile venues. The convention center can play host to up to 10,000 people, offering space for everything from intimate meetings to large-scale events.
Groups can also hold meetings at either the Manchester United or Manchester City football clubs’ event spaces, the gothic Monastery Manchester, or Co-op Live, the country’s largest live entertainment and sports arena.
